Διάλογος Merlot - Angelos Noulas

Description: Quality red dry wine, 100% Merlot variety, from Thessaly, Greece. Limited quantity, bottled in 200 cases.
Origin: Grown in Nesson-Larissa. The hot summer days were mitigated by applying the right canopy management techniques as well as light trimming. Grown on poor sandy and clay soils. Light irrigation at the late ripening stages assured expressive fruitiness at the right alcohol level. Controlled yield gave 30 hl/ha.
Vinification: De-stemmed grapes underwent pre-fermentative extraction at low temperatures; inoculation with selected yeast cultures fermented must sugars to the end. Extraction extended more than 2 weeks. Spent 12 months in French oak with occasional lees stirring. French oak constitute 25% one year old, 25% two years old and the rest 3 years old with medium plus toasting. Transferred out of oak and bottled in December 2011.
Closure: Natural cork
Tasting Note: Medium garnet with purple tints on the rim. Fruity nose along with leather and earthy notes. Expressive black fruits, delicate spices and leathery notes on a balanced palate. Soft rich tannic structure integrates well the French oak prolonging a savory finish.
